Warnings of Power Failure
We realise Public Safety Power Shutoff interruptions are disruptive and you need information as early as possible. When a Public Safety Power Shutoff is imminent, we will contact you as soon as possible by email, phone call, or text message to give you ample time to make preparations. The California Public Utilities Commission mandates this. Customers are given advance warning of a Public Safety Power Shutoff and given an approximate period of power outage and restoration. As a result, the number of people who will be impacted by the power outage or when it will occur is subject to vary based on updated weather predictions. For this reason, the first warning you receive may not come until the day your electricity is cut off.

Alerts for your PG&E account
If you are a PG&E account customer, you do not need to sign up for a Public Safety Power Shutoff notice. If we expect your address to be impacted by a cutoff, we will send you automated call, text and email alerts both day and night, as needed. The notifications will start two days before the cutoff (if feasible) and will be issued each day until electricity is restored.
Business alerts
Whether you’re a small, medium, or large firm, you can expect to hear from us at all hours of the day and night. If numerous employees need to be alerted of a probable outage, you may add their contact details to your account.
Address Alerts
As an account holder, youβll immediately get information about potential outages that may affect your service address. If you have a loved one or friend whose home is at risk of having the power cut off for public safety, you may set up an Address Alert to warn you. These alerts can be sent through phone calls or text messages, and they are translated into several languages. You can still sign up for Address Alerts even if you don’t have a PG&E account.
Protecting Vulnerable Clients
If you or a member of your household has a significant disease or condition that might become life-threatening if electric service is cut off due to an emergency but you do not qualify for the Medical Baseline Program, you can self-certify for Vulnerable Customer Status. You may receive further cutoff alerts including doorbell rings, if notifications are not accepted, to make sure you’re informed of a potential public safety outage.
Plan for Establishing a Medical Reference Point
If you are a Medical Baseline subscriber, you will be notified by phone, text message, and email in the event of a Public Safety Power Shutoff. You are obligated to verify that you have been getting these updates. If you do not react, we will make more notification efforts hourly, or contact you in person, until we reach you.
